PV Technology Development at Fraunhofer CSE

Our mission is to accelerate the growth of solar energy generation by conducting applied research on innovative photovoltaic modules, new materials and components, and systems integration.

We reduce cost, increase efficiency, and enhance durability of PV technologies in support of our clients’ commercialization efforts. An experienced team of scientists and researchers, supported by a world-class network of research partners, focuses on areas where there is the greatest need for innovation.

We support development from proof of concept to pilot production, certification and full production. Our expertise includes optical and thermal design, process development, and durability assessment.

Research Partners

  • Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (ISE): ISE is the largest solar energy research institute in Europe. The Institute’s work ranges from fundamental scientific research through the development of production technology and prototypes to the construction of demonstration systems.
  • CFV Solar Test Laboratory: A joint venture of the CSA Group, VDE, ISE, and CSE, CFV offers certification and non-certification testing services for a range of PV technologies, including conventional flat panel, thin film, and concentration PV (CPV) testing.

CSE's PV Technologies team also cooperates with other leading governmental, academic and research institutions around the world, including the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
