We offer multiple positions for PhD students specializing in physics, engineering, building science, chemistry or related courses of study. Applicants should be accepted for admission to a PhD program at a recognized university in the US or abroad, or already in the process of working towards their doctorates. In our program, you will:
- Write your thesis. Doctoral students can gain practical experience while conducting the lab work required for their thesis or dissertations in our laboratories.
- Work on government and industry projects. All PhD students are members of the CSE lab team and work on a variety of applied R&D contract projects for CSE clients.
- Pursue independent projects. Our students have the opportunity to propose and pursue fully-funded independent projects to further their studies.
- Collaboration with top scientists. At the CSE you will be partnered with industry leading scientists and engineers. You will be assigned an experienced mentor responsible for enhancing your Fraunhofer research and will have weekly meetings with your advisor and senior technical staff.
- Opportunities for publication. Our PhDs contribute to white papers and journal articles in scientific and industry publications.
- Explore MIT. Attend lectures, events and conferences and become a part of MIT's research and entrepreneurship community.
As with internships, PhD studentships are compensated on a monthly basis. For international students, visas will also be provided.
